In 2021–2022, the Open Society Institute – Sofia, in partnership with the Center for Liberal Strategies, conducted another survey on attitudes toward the core values of the European Union—democracy, the rule of law, and the protection of fundamental human rights. Similar surveys have been conducted periodically since 2015. The data collected help identify some of the main risks and challenges to the practice of these values in Bulgaria.
As a result of the 2021–2022 study, a report was prepared by a team consisting of:

The report also includes a special study on populism in Bulgaria, authored by Dr. Daniel Smilov of the Center for Liberal Strategies and Dr. Dragomira Belcheva of the Open Society Institute – Sofia.
