The conference provides a platform for practitioners and experts from citizenship education and from the social and political sciences to exchange interpretations and experiences of nationalism and populism. In five forums the participants have the opportunity to address and discuss questions connecting research into their causes with practices in curricular and extracurricular citizenship education. One of the primary aims of the forums is to make clear how multi-layered this European issue is. Another goal is to scrutinise and readjust current citizenship education strategies and competencies.
