Security Challenges in Southeastern Europe

The format of the project was a two days conference, which took place in Sofia on March 27-28, 2000. The conference consisted of the following panels:
1.     Economic Reform as a Security Issue
2.     Role of the European Union in Promoting Stability and Security in the Region
3.     Role of NATO and Euro-Atlantic Structures in Promoting Stability and Security in the Region
4.     Energy and Transport Issues in Southern and Eastern Europe, and the Role of Ukraine and Bulgaria
5.     Policy Implications and Conclusions
The list of invitees included members of the Bulgarian government, Parliament, and business community, representatives of the foreign investors’ community in Bulgaria, journalists and policy analysts and guests from the Southeastern European region, Ukraine and the USA.
