Have the former welfare states of Southeast Europe turned into farewell states? With state organs rapidly losing public trust and unable to deliver on promises of prosperity, the question of citizens’ participation in politics was the major theme of an international project entitled Developing a Long Term Strategy for Democratization in the Balkans.
